Quite on a Saturday Night
The place never get really busy. A lot of girls... The Music was quite bad. It is sad because I don't think that there is many alternatives in the area...
DISAPPOINTED
I hadn't been to Georgie's in about 5 years and I am not too impressed with it now. I used to love it. I was there last Saturday and the first thing I noticed was the very unfriendly security guard with the beard sitting at the door. I politely said hello and smiled as I do to most people and he glared at me with a hateful look in his eyes like he hated his job and everyone there and refused to acknowledge my presence. (Not a good ambassador) This coming from a 30 25 year police commander who would have had a good talking to any of my men who had his attitude. Realizing that bars have to clear out quickly at the end of the night this same guard was running around inside the bar at closing time shouting at people to step back from "his" bar. Unless he is the owner it is not his bar and he seemed to enjoy antagonizing people too much. There is a way to talk to people and this guy doesn't have the ability to do that. The next thing I noticed were the bartenders who did their job well but didn't seem too friendly. Two out of three didn't bother to smile. The drinks were watered down from what I remember about 5 years ago and I realize that costs have gone up but they were quite pricey compared to other bars in the area. On the good side, the bar and restrooms were very clean and there was a nice friendly crowd there and I had a good time. I had no personal problem with this guard but if I owned such a bar I would expect all personnel, especially the security guard to have some interpersonal skills which he obviously does not. I would have given two more stars if not for his attitude. (By the way I was watching the way he interacted with others, I had no problem with him except for his superior attitude.) Paying customers deserve more.
The best and biggest gay bar in Tampa Bay
Conservative, preppy gay traveler here. Tested out several places, and this was the one I liked the best. Large establishment with two bars, a dance floor, and deck seating as well. Staff was friendly. Above average quality crowd. Best yet, you can't smoke in the bar.
