Country Western dance bar in central Ybor
A laid-back dance club for the country western scene, Spurs features Country Western dancing three nights a week with T-dance on Sundays. Line dancing lessons start at 8pm. Don't miss their outdoor Tiki bar for dancing and drinking under the stars.

Parking cost too much. It's a non-smoking bar, which means if you dance you have to go stand out on the patio to smoke in the humid florida weather.. NOT GOOD.. makes you hotter. Drink Prices suck and the floor (although pretty) is way way way too small. If you're into country go to a straight club... NOT TO MENTION this place is only open two days a week and one night is the only country night.. ??? DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?

Spurs is great! Where else in Tampa can you go and get three bars in one. Drinks are reasonably priced, they have drink specials as well. I'm from Orlando originally and I accidentally stumbled across this place and love it. The bartenders are great, especially John and Johan on the inside they were friendly and made me feel a part of the bar. The inside bar is country, and the dance floor is large enough for some people to get out there and dance. The music is great - all top music on the radio, the outside bar is a huge patio with umbrellas and a tiki bar and they even have a leather back bar which you can smoke in. I love this bar and everytime I can make it down to Ybor I love it - definately go it's a lot of fun.

I couldn't agree more with what Bob says about Spurs. On top of that, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a cleaner bar than Spurs. The place is immaculate, and the bathrooms are spotless. They even recently built on a new addition that caters to the leather crowd. The owners are constantly improving the place and listening to their patrons for ideas. Karaoke night on Thursday is a blast. They do have drink specials, and the drinks are a decent size for the money. I feel lucky to have such an outstanding facility in the Tampa Bay Area. It may not be for everyone, but most will be impressed. You might even meet some great new friends.

Spurs is a great little country bar...and here's why:
1) There is an INSIDE bar where the dancing happens and an outside "tiki" bar for socilizing.
2) There's no smoking in the inside bar - a big plus for those that don't like smokey bars.
3) All the songs are now on a laptop - so the sound is clean, clear and there is A LOT of selection.
4) There are FREE dance lessons on Thursday and Friday nights (Usually start right at 8pm).
5) It's a FRIENDLY bar - no clique's or egos.
6) It's not a "bar-fly-friendly" bar. Meaning, you won't find the 9-10 "drunks" always sitting in the same barstools everytime you're there - and who usually become obnoxious round 11pm ahah.
7) It's not a "tweeker" bar. Meaning, those who seem to relish in taking any one (or more) of the "Alphabet drugs" USUALLY aren't Country Music lovers - so no worries about walking into the bathroom and seeing guys doing drugs!
8) It's a "Mature" bar. Meaning, there are folks of all ages that go (25-55 age range). Most of the folks that go are ADULTS in teh way they act and talk. So, you won't find alot of "circuit bois or twinks" skipping around.
It's not a HUGE bar by any means. But, that's one of the reasons its fun to go - its small, intimate, fun and the drinks are priced fairly and made well!
If you LIKE country music - it's a great bar.
If you LIKE country line dancing - its really your ONLY choice in town.
NO I'M NOT AN OWNER OR EMPLOYEE! ahahah
PS: They now have Karaoke on thursday nights! Its fun!

This place sucks a**. The funny thing is they call it a country bar... but it's so f'ing small.. you can't two-step... and too crowded on the inside which forces you outside on their patio.. which is so damn muggy, especially since you are wearing jeans and cowboy attired. who wants to pay $4.50 for a domestic beer... This place bites ass. I do not recommend it at all..
