The owners are horrible
the owners of this bar don't care about the gay/lesbian community. they are rude, disrespectful, and dismissive to staff and patrons. keep thinking it will get better...but it never does. great bartenders...but Nicki (the owner) ruins it for everyone
Nice place
Stopped in for new years live band great crowed, just wish hey were like the reg days and had the room to party. Drinks a little hight for the size of the place. Probly a good place for the few locals that go.
I always love this bar!!!
Hats off and Kudos to the owner Nikki who made this a very welcoming place to come to. You can by how much she cares when you first come thru the door. From the flooring, to the ceiling the place screams out "Welcome Home!" its what a neighborhood bar should be. You can tell Nikki has a heart of gold From hosting fund raisers for non profit organizations/worthy causes to even help feed the homeless. Chelsea has plenty of parking, a beautiful spacious patio, a huge bar, nuce dance floor with DJ, and cool bartenders and drinks. This is as the sign says "Be who you are!" and you can definitely do that here!
Dirty (and not in a good way)
If you like old guys who smoke a lot, this is your place. My drink was strong, but crowd was either retirement age or completely tweeked out. Probably doesn't help that it's located in a sketchy part of town right next to a homeless shelter. Enter at your own risk.
More of the same...
I love dive bars, but did not enjoy Chelsea. First of all, it's way too smoky and (no offense to the cast of regulars) the crowd was a little too old for my taste. We heard it was dead on Fridays (which it was) and were hoping to take advantage of having total run of the karaoke machine. However, the sound system was so awful that we left after 1 song. Lastly, as mentioned in several of the other reviews, the neighborhood and all the wandering homeless people are a big problem. Maybe I'l give it second chance, but it'll probably be a while.
