Tampa’s Hispanic Month Celebration kick off, Sunday, September 18th, 2016 at the Historic Centennial Park Ybor City 1800 E. 8th Ave., Tampa, Florida, from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
(Tampa, FL) All American Music Productions Inc., the Ybor Chamber of Commerce, the Ybor Rotary Club and Course of Action are proud to announce and invite the Tampa Bay community and surrounding counties to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring generations of Hispanic Americans residing in Tampa Bay, and across our Sunshine State as well as the nation for their social, cultural and economic contributions! Through hard work and dedication, Hispanic Americans have contributed to science, the arts, commerce, sports, philanthropy and every other facet of American life. Men and women of Hispanic descent have proudly and courageously served in the armed forces throughout American history, showing an unwavering commitment to protect our nation.
Join us for this feet stomping performance including the renowned singer, artist Alina Izquierdo celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Celebrate with us the biggest and most exciting event celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and enjoy an exciting FREE Family Art & Cultural Festival, celebrating the beauty of Tampa Bay’s Hispanic Communities! Guests will enjoy delicious Latin foods, festivities and local band performances dedicated to Hispanic Heritage. Cultural dance exhibitions, and recognition of our cities most influential Hispanic leaders who will be receiving the prestigious Heritage Award in business, community, health and more to include the category of the Amigo and Amiga award, an award presented to someone of non-Hispanic ancestry for doing so much for the Hispanic community! One of the best MC's and host in Tampa will be back again for the 2nd year, Jorge Alvarado from THE JORGE SHOW!!
This year we will show case “Veterans Thunder Alley Booths” to show case a number of Veteran non-profit organizations. These organizations will interact with our community and share with us their personnel stories and how they are helping our Veterans and first responders in Tampa, Florida.
This year Viva Hispanic Heritage Festival will feature world renowned, Cuban singer Alina Izquierdo known as ‘The diamond voice of cuba/la voz diamante de cuba”. She participated in the festival OTI where her song “para el Nuevo año” transformed her in one of the most famous artists and loved in Cuba. With this song she won de Cancun festival of music award. She travels to Europe where she participates in TV shows with one of the biggest orchestras in Italy of Augusto Martelli and the historic group Inomadi. She meets the famous Tito Puente and records various songs in the record “Solo para la Musica” and where she works with other musicians like Chucho Valdez, Giovananni Hidalgo and Juan Pablo Torres. She also played a role in the Italian-Cuban movie “El Soñador”. She just completed her 2nd CD in the USA dedicated to the tropical genre directed by the Cuban musician Dennis Torres “Un Poquito Mas” . She will make her CD debut at the Viva Tampa Bay Hispanic heritage celebration.
Upcoming young and talented percussionist from Orlando Florida Mr. David Gonzales Jr, known as “El Principe del Timbal” will render a special performance as a Tribute to the legendary Tito Puente a New York bandleader and American mambo musician and Latin jazz composer. Tito Puente served in the Navy for three years during World War II after being drafted in 1942. He was discharged with a Presidential Unit Citation for serving in nine battles on the escort carrier USS Santee (CVE-29). The GI Bill allowed him to study music at Juilliard School of Music, where he completed a formal education in conducting, orchestration and theory. In 1969, he received the key to the City of New York from former Mayor John Lindsay. In 1992, he was inducted into the National Congressional Record, and in 1993 he received the James Smithson Bicentennial Medal from the Smithsonian.
From right here in Tampa the Latin musical group Caribeño Tropical will be playing the heritage rich sounds of the Caribbean and Latin America. From Puerto Rico, Cuba, Santo Domingo, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru. They are a very talented group of seasoned musicians bringing their own flavor, fun, passion energy and love. They will performing various genres like Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Bolero and Danzon. Come out and support this extraordinary band from right here in Brandon Florida.
From Tampa Florida and directed by the creator of the successful Bomba Y Plena Festival in Tampa, Albert Delgado is the director of the cultural band Diaspora. They will be performing Bomba and plena. Their music is a percussion-driven musical traditions from Puerto Rico that move people to dance. Often mentioned together as though they were a single musical style, both reflect the African heritage of Puerto Rico, but there are basic distinctions between them in rhythm, instrumentation, and lyrics. Come out and see this awesome local band sharing the traditional music from Puerto Rico.
