For our February monthly screening, TIGLFF is pleased to present a program of wonderful womenâs short films. SHELBYâS VACATION (Vickie Sampson, 2017, USA, 33 min) follows a woman who sets out from L.A. on a much-needed vacation to mend her heart from its latest unrequited crush. Shelby ends up at a rustic mountain resort where she meets manager Carol, who has her own memories that are getting in the way of creating a real relationship. Their casual vacation encounter turns into something more profound than either of them had bargained for, as they learn what holds them back from living life fully in the present. The beautiful Brazilian film POOL (Leandro Goddinho, 2016, Brazil, 29 min) won our audience award during the 2017 Festival and we loved it so much, we needed an encore. In POOL, Claudia decides to investigate her grandmotherâs past. Through a letter, she finds Marlene, an old German lady who lives in Brazil and keeps her memories inside a pool without water. During the visit, Marlene reveals details of her life that intersect with Claudiaâs grandmotherâs past, a German fugitive of the 2nd World War. (DC Shorts)
